BUDDING artists are being invited to portray what trains – or Northern – mean to them. The rail operator, which runs services on the Airedale line, has launched a competition to celebrate World Art Day. People can submit drawings, paintings, collages or sculptures. Entries will be judged by artist Alastair Nicholson, who has run community art projects at Northern stations. Winners will have their work displayed across the network and receive free rail tickets. There are three age categories – 11 and under, under-18s and over-18s. Mark Powles, for Northern said: “If you’re looking for something creative to do during lockdown, then this competition is for you.
