The Innisfail-Sylvan Lake MLA says budget 2021 sets up key fundamentals for growth in Agriculture and Forestry. Devin Dreeshen – the province’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry – says one of those keys is $800 million dollars of a new lending capacity limit for the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC). He says this spring they will finally be ready to actually have dirt fly on the irrigation projects in Southern Alberta. Dreeshen says it will capitalize on the $815 million dollar investment in irrigation – the largest historical investment in irrigation in the province’s history. Dreeshen notes the provincial government set a $1.4 billion dollar investment attraction goal and a two-thousand net new jobs goal last year. Already within a year, he says they have $527 million dollars in agriculture investment into the province and almost a thousand new jobs.
