Calls for action to stop trolley dumping in Belvedere

Residents living in the area surrounding Belvedere’s Asda supermarket branch have hit out over the supermarket’s enforcement of trolley thefts.
Trolleys from the superstore, which is located off Station Road, are regularly found littering the streets of the nearby area, according to members of a local residents group.
Roads badly affected by the problem include Laymarsh Close, Kingswood Avenue, and St Augustines Road.
A resident of Abbey Road, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “We regularly have abandoned Asda trolleys littering our streets between Laymarsh Close to Asda.
“Some days we can count 17 or more. People use them to take back their shopping. It was suggested to Asda a while ago perhaps they can put pavement bumps down to deter people from wheeling them down the street.
