26 Feb 2021 --- The number of reported human cases of illness caused by
Campylobacter and
Salmonella bacteria across Europe appears to be stabilizing over the past five years. This is according to the latest report on zoonotic diseases by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
Campylobacteriosis is the most reported gastrointestinal disease in the EU since 2005 and affected more than 220,000 people in 2019. Salmonellosis was the second most reported zoonotic disease in the EU, affecting about 88,000 people.
