Drawn in by his drug dealer to start selling cannabis, a man got stuck in a cycle of addiction and having to pay for it. He moved on to cocaine and ended up with a £500 a week habit — and ended up selling the drugs to help fund it. The situation Adam Karl Johnston got himself into was outlined at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Friday, when he narrowly avoided a prison sentence for his crimes. The 25-year-old, of Clarence Road, East Cowes, was given a two-year custodial sentence, suspended for two years. Judge David Melville said it was a "sorry saga" seen regularly in court.
