THE local community has once more rallied round to support Cardigan Foodbank which this year has faced an unprecedented demand for its services. The foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust, relocated this year into the old Co-op supermarket building at the bottom of Quay Street, which has been taken over as part of the ministries of New Life Church as a community project. Given the significant economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, foodbanks across the country have seen record levels of need this year already. Cardigan has been no different as the Trussell Trust recorded a 47 per cent increase in the number of parcels distributed during the first six months of the crisis in comparison to the same period in 2019.
