CBE chair Marilyn Dennis explains changes to school renaming policy

Q: Where would the initiative come from? And who would initiate changing the name of that school if somebody wanted to?
A: Certainly the public has an opportunity to voice their opinion and their desire in having a school name looked at. We've tried to make this as simple as possible for the public to be able to let their voice be heard on it.
We have the petition available, which has always been an option that's been available to the public, but we put it in a policy to make it more clear. And also, members of the public can reach out to their trustee, or really any trustee, so the board has reserved for itself an unrestricted ability to be able to bring something like that forward.
