17330 Chandigarh, December 19 To prevent the destruction of green cover for infrastructure, residents of the city today protested the decision of the UT Administration to axe 700 trees for the construction of a flyover at the Tribune Chowk. ‘Show of solidarity’ “The protest was a show of solidarity by the people of Chandigarh to stop the cutting of “only” 700 trees. Flyovers have never been a solution to traffic problem,” said Paveela Bali, who had filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, on behalf of her NGO, The Run Club, against the cutting of the trees for the flyover project.
