In the weeks following Thanksgiving break, the Charles City School District was anticipating that the virus rates in the districts would spike heavily.
According to Superintendent Mike Fisher, the opposite happened.
Fisher says the district’s attendance rate has gone up as well – with the percentage of students gone falling below 5%. He says if this number eclipses 10%, then the district would go to completely remote learning.
Fisher explains that the tentative plans for grades 7 through 12 is to get fully back in classes after Christmas break. In order to do this, the district will need 5 days in a row where the absentee rate is under 10%.
