Chatham Area Transit board names interim CEO Savannah Morning News After about 22 minutes of executive session, the Chatham Area Transit (CAT) board of directors named CAT Outreach Manager Valerie Ragland as interim CEO until a permanent replacement for Bacarra Mauldin can be found. The board abruptly terminated Mauldin on Tuesday. Ragland does not come into the position void of experience, according to board chairman Deidrick Cody. “We welcome Valerie in this new position with nearly 34 years of experience, and several positions at Chatham Area Transit. Valerie Ragland, epitomizes the mission and values of Chatham Area Transit. She's often said, this is not a job, but a mission to serve others in our community,” Cody said.
