Now that family has been notified, the sheriff can reveal Adam Campbell Jr., from Vanderbilt, is the person who was found “unresponsive” on a bed around 7 a.m. on Friday. Jail staff sent for an ambulance and tried to save his life, but it was too late. Campbell, age 39, was serving time for a misdemeanor. He died just three days before he was scheduled for release from police custody. Monday, March 15, would have been the day he walked free. The sheriff says there aren’t any signs of foul play, but they are analyzing video from the cell and waiting for the autopsy results.
