Checkpoints re-established as Auckland enters Alert Level 3 Monday, February 15, 2021 IWK Bureau Police have re-established road checkpoints in and out of the Auckland region as Alert Level 3 restrictions came into effect at midnight. Currently, the Auckland region is under Alert Level 3 which restricts any travel outside or inside the super-city unless travelling for work or getting essential services. The boundaries will be set mostly in the same locations as the last time Auckland was in Alert Level 3 in August. Eight checkpoints on the outskirts of Auckland will be stopping vehicles and questioning drivers, ensuring there is no non-essential movement through the region.
