May 21, 2021 The man arrested following an hours-long standoff with police in Clarkston earlier this week faces several charges related to the incident. 34-year-old Steven Eckhart was formally charged with 8 counts of second-degree assault with deadly weapon enhancements, unlawful possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment. Eckhart reportedly fired a weapon in his residence on the 1100 block of 14th Street Wednesday evening after law enforcement arrived to check on the welfare of the child, who was supposed to be removed from the house and turned over to custody of his mother. Authorities surrounded the residence and the Lewiston SWAT team, along with a social worker and Eckhart’s probation officer, were able to resolve the standoff peacefully after several hours and the child was unharmed.
