19 Januarie 2021 08:31 Councilâs Invasive Species Unit (ISU) continues to monitor and survey the Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer Beetle (PSHB) in the Helderberg. The unit has prioritised this action since the infestation confirmation in Somerset West in April 2019. The survey is done to identify all reproductive and non-reproductive host trees and inspect them for PSHB presence, which has identified the top five most infested reproductive host trees in the area. The data further confirmed the beetle is currently confined in the Somerset West area, but other areas where these top five trees are found are also being surveyed for early detection purposes.
