Reporter judge Tanya Chutkan has scheduled a hearing for friday a arguments from both attorneys for former President Trump and the Special Counsel about the possible rules for exactly how evidence especially sensitive evidence will be handled in this case. The Special Counsel has been lobbying for a broad Protective Order to limit the ability the former president has to share Sensitive Information that is turned over in this case. But trumps lawyers have argued for something more narrow, something that only covers the most Sensitive Information. They argue that that would be more in line with the Protective Orders in other january 6 cases. Trump lawyers also asked that the hearing be scheduled text week as they have another hearing in the other Special Counsel investigation down in florida on thursday. But judge chutkan appears based on her Scheduling Orders so far to be keen to move this along as quickly as possible. So shes scheduled this for hearing on friday, both sides will have the opportunity to present arguments and this will be their first time appearing before the judge who will continue to oversee the case until what is expected to be a tr hearing. Now to a cris advocates in ohio last night. Voters soundly rejected a referendum to raise the threshold for amending the state kons from a simple majority to 60 . It was a republican led effort to make it harder to pass a november referendum that would protect Abortion Rights. Ohio, we did it. We did it tonight is a major victory for democracy in ohio. The majority in ohio. And the peoples power has been preserved. Coalition leaders also saying that the work to enshrine Abortion Rights in the states constitution begins today they aware that the ukrainian counteroffensive is not progressing as quickly as expected. Ukraines president on tuesday admitting that the counteroffensive has not been easy and is happening probably slower than some had hoped. John kirt it and has not given up in the face of difficulties. Nobody wants to see them struggling and gotting as well as they would like. So were all dedicated to continuing to help they will what they need. If that means more training, then more training it will be. If that means more capabilities, more capabilities it will be. Were all in this together. Clare sebastian is live for us in london. And i think these are remarkable admissions from ukraine and a major ally. What factors are being blamed for the slower progress, is it the lack of training . It is a number of factors, and this is somewhere where ukraines president zelenskyy and western officials that weve been speaking to agree it is the slowness with which they were able to start it. Remember it was called the Spring Counteroffensive and they didnt manage to really get things under way until early june. President zelenskyy has since said that is because they were waiting for stocks of weapons to arrive until they reached that sort of critical mass. It is the russian defenses because during that time russia was able to really bed in with these mine fields,s like that, made the advance on the battlefield and continues to make itit extremely difficult. And was there enough training, looking at. I think for ukraine, the issue now is time. Were talking about winter and also changing politicay saying with them, but polling that you see in terms of u. S. Public opinion is a bit more nuanced. This was a cnn poll that was surveyed more than 1,000 americans in july and it does show a bit of a shift, now the data shows that 51 of americans think that the u. S. Has done enough to help ukraine. Only 48 think that they should do more. Compare that to more than 60 in the very early days of the conflict who actually felt that the u. S. Could do more to help ukraine. So there is a shift there. That is a snapshot, but one that president zelenskyy and ukraine will be watching closely and frankly so will russia. Clare, thank you. Hard to believe but the school year is quickly approaching. For most it means class monday through friday, but more schools are switching to a four day week. According to data, more than 2100 schools and nearly 900 School Districts across 26 states have implemented that schedule. The number of schools just doubling in the past decade. Joining us to discuss is Christopher Doss from the rand corporation. Great to see you in studio. Thank you for having me. Lets talk first about School Instructio and we found that students in the four Day School Week, they took a hit to student achievement, they were performing lower in math and english language arts. Would more instruction time, would a fifth day sort of bridge that gap . Research tells us part of the reason they may be performing lower is because they are in school less time. Most School Districts try to extend the other four days but they dont extend it enough to completely make up for the time that they lose on that fifth day. And you and i were talking about this earlier in makeup. Is it similar to some of the loss when people come back from summer . It is a little different. When you think about student loss over the summer, it is because they get out of the habit of learning. Here they are in school less so they are not learning as much to begin to the cost savings but your Research Found that they are modest. Yeah, some other researchers looked at the cost savings, about 2 to 3 is what they saved on their budgets because there are a lot of fixed costs. He might run the buses one day less and save, but place. A lot of people who had dont there are in the rural districts so they serve fewer kids but they have to assupport the enti district. It is that a hard time to be an educator with the Budget Restraints and also teacher labor shortages. How much does that play into the popularity ot teachers would be more willing to either stay in the classroom or come to their districts because they only have to work four days instead of five. So are you finding this is a useful tool to Recruiting Teachers . If you have a neighboring district that is five days a and you take one of their teachers away from them because they only work four days in your district, what is to stop the five day School District from adopting it. So it might be short sighted. What did you find in terms of parents and students and also teachers . A lot of people affected by this policy, where do they stand on whether they prefer five or four days . Most people that had dont the policy really like it from families and teaches and even the school. Dont the policy really like it from families and teaches and even the school. So this is from what they think the benefits are and trying to balance it with the Student Achievements that could be seriously hurt. Did you see any differences in terms of support for this type of policy based on where people are . For example i think maybe some would appreciate having five di based on where people send their kids to school . Most of the districts that have had donted there are rural districts. And they have a lot of grandparents who take care of kids. They have a lot of parents that work off site and are away from the home for a long period othr kids and spouse to visited parent working off site. Or they cancan arrange child ca more easily. So it may work for
