Claims of haitian migrants eating pets in springfield, ohio. He now says that Hell Visit the town, quote, into weeks. But that is a special kind of Fortnight Promise that he has a Track Record of breaking and will take look plus the latest on the investigation into the sinking of the Titan Submersible, new video from the u. S. Coast guard shows its wreckage at the bottom of the ocean. Were following these major developing stories and many more all coming in right here to Cnn News central days until November 5 Election Day and new polling out today points to an overarching theme the race for the White House will likely be one of the tightest contest in modern American History with Harris And Trump deadlocked across several Battleground States. And pennsylvania, the state that could determine the election. A new Cnn Poll of polls shows the two candidates in a dead Heat Race with no clear leader lets turn now to cnn senior Data Reporter Harry enten for a deeper dive on all of this. Harry, obviously the race on a razors edge, and this new polling out of pennsylvania, this new analysis theres a lot to decipher. There now theres so much to decipher boris. I mean, ive been keeping i woke up at 4 30 this morning looking at all the polling data, i got no sleep. I was deep down on the spreadsheets. And heres the reason why look at this. We have gotten a bevy, a slew of buffet of polling however way you want to put it, harris, in trump in pennsylvania, this is the margin quinnipiac. He got five for harris. How about the New York times . You got four for harris . Bricklin, and marshall. Three, your notice were coming down the line. Trumps doing a little bit better. How about the Washington Post . Just a Onepoint Lead for harris . Well, within the margin of Error And Marist college a tie. So the Bottom Line is looking at this data. You see perhaps a slight lead for harris, but then you work your way all the way back to your right side of the screen and you got to tie as you put it, my dear friend, very tight in the Keystone State and how about this new fresh michigan and Wisconsin Polling . Thats come out over the last day yeah. All right. So i gave you a five polls here. Thats a lot of numbers to digest. So lets kind of dive in. Were going to look at michigan. Were going to look at wisconsin, and were going to look at pennsylvania, and were going to basically close it in on an average, right . Take it all together, package it up. Nice bow on the top of it to make it easy. So the great Lake Battleground states Michigan Plus Two for harris pennsylvania, you mentioned that the top Plus Two for harris. How about wisconsin Plus Two for harris on average, the Bottom Line is boris in these Battleground States, it is so, so, so, so tight, no clear leader. Now, what does this mean for the electoral map . Because i think that is so important. You look at this and say, okay, these numbers, what are these exactly mean . Lets talk about the race to 270 electoral votes. All right, now, what im gonna do in this situation is im going to say that the Polling Averages are right on now it could be off by a little bit in trump could benefit from that. And win with those Polling Averages the way they are. But lets just say the Polling Averages are right on so well give Kamala Harris, wisconsin. Well give her michigan. And of course, well give her what i think is the most important state in this election and the commonwealth of pennsylvania, if you give Kamala Harris all three of these states, even if she loses in nevada arizona, georgia and north carolina. Heres the key number in the race to 270. She would get to exactly exactly 270 electoral votes. But if you just took one of these states away, boris, she would fall below that margin. So that is why you lead this off by saying it is the closest race in a generation. It has been that way nationally and when you look at these Battleground States, theres no other way to describe it. My dear friend, then, too close to call there is also the possibility harry, with these razor thin margins that if she somehow loses that congressional district in nebraska, that the woman omaha, that one electoral vote, we can be thrust into a tie and then its up to the house. Representatives. So a lot of things are possible there. What i want to ask you about though, Harry Taylor swift, a lot of this polling has come out since she endorsed the Vice President. Does this new polling find anything interesting in terms of her popularity . With. Voters. I think i think it does because we always talk about Taylor Swift and the young vote. I think that that might not necessarily be all that correct at least by depends on your definition, a young, alright, this is Taylor Swifts net Favorability Rating. I want you to look at voters likely voters under the age of 30 its just plus six among generation z, its actually our generation, mr. Sanchez which is where Taylor Swift is the most popular age, 30 to 44, were her net Favorability Rating is Plus 18 so if youre a big fan of Taylor Swift, chances are youre giving away, your age in a way you might not i want to it turns out that the Taylor Swift fans are more likely to be a little bit older than i think is commonly assumed. And that might not necessarily good news for me or for you or for our dear friend, brianna harry, i think youve got a recalibrate your definition of young just a bit of advice, just a bit of advice. Harry would know i now now now now, no, no. Dont try and get rid of me that easily. Were not adjusting adjust the standard deviation, harry, its time. Thanks so much, buddy fine. So today, Vice President harris is zeroing in on the swing, Swing State of michigan, as you saw from harry, it is one of those three key Blue Wall states. And shes going to have some serious Star Power at a big event planned for tonight. Harris is going to hold a virtual rally with the help of oprah winfrey. Theyre going to be targeting a key coalition that could help her win. None not just michigan, but other important Battleground States. Cnns Eva Mckend joins us now, live with more details. So eva, are we expecting a huge turnout for this Zoom Call Rally . Well, the campaign always is measured when they set expectations, but yes, boris, i think it is going to be quite significant that when with black women call that initial call that happened after we had this shakeup in the democratic ticket is quite instructive more than 90,000 women tuned in from across the the country. It raised more than 1. 5 million. So within about three hours and so when with black women is one of the Partners Tonight in this event. And so i think that it is going to be huge. I tuned into that call several weeks ago and what you heard from these black woman from all across the country was but they finally feel viewed as part of the process thats so long democrats have been black, women have been the backbone of the democratic party. But now they feel as though they are being represented at the highest levels. So i think you are going to have a lot of engagement tonight, the entire goal is to find i are up all of these key coalitions that do the important work of registering voters. Boris and knocking on doors. Eve, i want to ask you about some Axios Polling that came out recently from alex thompson, a cnn colleague. We should note and he tabulated the number of interviews that both harris and her Running Mate Governor walz, had done. And it pales in comparison to the number done by Donald Trump and j. D. Vance since harris became the nominee, some 60 days ago or so, im wondering, when youre talking to sources, did they tell you that this is part of a strategy, this avoid its of the press so everything i gleaned from my conversations with harris allies is they just dont see any benefit to this. They see its a time game, boris, you know this well that theres nothing more valuable than a candidates time. And in this truncated campaign they want her out. Sometimes in an intimate spaces with voters having that Oneonone Connection and they lose that time if they are prepping intensely for an intense Policy Policydriven Interview with a news organization, i think to the great frustration of us. And so this does not surprise i asked me, i think that in addition to these big rallies, they certainly have the money for them. They also want to do the sort of Micro Events where theyre connecting very strategically with voters in the seven key Battleground States and that doesnt leave a whole lot of time for news interviews. There is great incentive for coming on. Cnn News Central, i should point out wed like to have a good time here as even mccannel. Absolutely. Thanks so much eva. Appreciate it. Brianna yesterday, former President Trump pledged to visit aurora, colorado, and springfield, ohio, two cities that have gotten a lot of attention as they have experienced an influx of migrants, springfield, because trump baselessly claimed during the debate that haitian immigrants were eating peoples pets there. This is when he said hed is it tougher. Ive got to go there. In the next two weeks. Im going to springfield and im going to aurora see me again, but thats okay got to do what i got it. Whatever happens to trump while he never got out of springfield you can only get out of a place that you first go to and that promise to go quote, in the next two weeks is one that weve heard before from trump, february but definitely not into weeks or even close to two weeks. More recently in april this past april, he promised a plan for Abortion Medication probably over the next week that never came by. June. His campaign said not to expect a plan anytime soon. And at the last debate, he was asked if after years of talking about it, he finally had his plan to replace obamacare so just yes or no, you still do not have a plan . I have concepts of a plan. Im not president right now. But if we come up with something, i would only change it if we come up with something thats better and less expensive and there are concepts and options we, have to do that. And youll be hearing about it in the nottoodistant future. Trumps Campaign Spokesperson the next day he said, youll be hearing about it in the nottoodistant future. When are we going to be hearing about that concept of a plant . Well, as he said, in the nottoodistant future, and President Trumps, plan can be passed by. But i dont have a date for you this morning, john, but ill definitely get back to you with one as soon as i can. If, past is prologue, that could be awhile or maybe never because back in 2020, he made this promise were signing a Health Care Plan within two weeks, a full and complete Health Care Plan that the supreme Court Decision on daca gave me the right to do that was july and by august, trump said he was pursuing an Executive Order over the next two weeks that would require Health Insurance companies to cover preexisting conditions as a replacement for obamacare. It never came and obamacare stuck around because as weve seen, what makes more fortnight references than a tortured poet and breaking those promises never seems to go out of style and happening today. The mayor of springfield is taking action to protect the city after even more Bomb Threats in the last 24 hours, schools targeted last week, this time, it was City Businesses the mayor granting himself temporary Emergency Powers that give him more resources to deal with these kinds of threats. And this started, of course, after trump started repeating those fake claims about haitian migrants eating pets, even the local officials insisted that there is no evidence for it joining us now is the editor in chief of the Haitian Times, Vanya Andre of vanya. Thank you so much for being with us. I do want to ask you about just very broadly across the country, the haitian american population, the haitian immigrant population. But first, if you can talk about this idea of trump, this promise of going to springfield build that he might show up there. What would the potential impact of a visit like that be thank you for having me on and keeping a spotlight on this Issue Hearing that he may be in springfield is very jarring for us. As many folks we know that the Haitian Times its been already targeted our special Events Editor was swatted and doxxed over the weekend. And so when i hear that theres a possibility that hes going to be in springfield in immediately rushed with concern for my team. We have been the target of several hate messages males and then not only us, but other folks in the community. Its a real question about how is this impacting peoples families and their childrens and all the spaces that they have to operate in hearing that he may come, we need to prepare on how we would best protect ourselves, both digitally and physically yeah. I mean, you have haitian american officials across the country in states all over the u. S. And theyre talking about this. They talked about the threat to the safety and the wellbeing of haitian migrants. That a News Conference Today talking about that, you mentioned the very personal impact that you are feeling at the Haitian Times when you hear people, whether it his friends, whether it is people who youre talking to through the Haitian Times and reporting. What are they saying about their concerns and confusion over this . Well first, everyone is shocked. I mean, you have to understand that as a haitian community, we have some Experience And Familiarity with suppression of the press from years of dictatorship that happened in haiti and so when you come to the united states, its under but this impression that youre not going to be dealing with the same types of obstacles as far as Freedom Of Information and a Narrative Building that we faced in haiti so a lot of the discussions have been happening is honestly a lot of shock some of the personal conversations ive been having with folks, is that to be really frank . I felt a bit naive, abide by how blindsided we were know, sorry. Keep going. I think we just said a little excited. Im sorry really blindsided by the level that people are very thing. And so a lot of what people are thinking about is how do we mobilize . How do we make sure that even though there are haitian immigrants and migrants that may not be able to vote, but they have families that have been here for years, for generations. How do we make sure . For there were able one to protect our community, pushed back against this rhetoric and this narrative which has a ton of implications for us in all sorts and facets of our life. But then also on taking it one more Step Level how do we mobilize and make sure that there are some legislative, an actual Voter Activation efforts. There theyre going to be made to combat all of this vanya trumps running mate, Senator Vance says that he is still calling the haitian immigrants illegal aliens we should note that when you look at springfield, ohio, these are vast majority people of Haitian Heritage who are there legally a lot of them with temporary protected status. But he says hes using that phrase, illegal aliens because even though they are there legally, he disagrees about the process that made it legal for them to be there. We have been talking about springfield but of course there are asian populations all around the country. What is the impact of saying something like that . Sort of undercutting the legality of haitians who are here in the country is what youve seen happen in the last couple of days and weeks. Bomb threats. I mean, just today the Vice Chair of the Hartford Public Schools in connecticut was supposed to be on this call, was not able to because there were threats directly to him and so the impact all over the community, regardless of where these haitian enclaves are, is that its a real fear people are being targeted, even people who were on panels with us just talking about the election have been targeted and so thinking about the impact again, one of it is just really thinking about how can we push back against this rhetoric . This narrative. This is extremely helpful. We have folks that are writing Opinion Pieces in all over an a majority of outlets. And then also just making, again, like, how do we make sure that we are connecting the community within up sources that they may need to be able to process what theyre going through. One of the things that we did at the Haitian Times is that we create he did a Resource Guide for folks in ohio for mental health resources. So much of this, its not just the actual threat, but all of the impact that it has on peoples emotional health and how they feel safe. Just operating and an existing in this country its really eyeopening. What you are having to do and the ways that you are having to help people. Vanya, andre, editor in chief of the Haitian Times. Thanks so much for your timE Today. Thank you ahead.
