Answer questions you may have call now and well come to you 808 to 14000 with just six weeks left after until the election. The race for the

could hardly be closer. New

Cnn News Central Well Election Day
is just six weeks away. New
Cnn Polling
shows a virtual tie between
Vice President
Kamala Harris
and former president
Donald Trump
with likely voters nationwide supporting harris in the race for the
White House
. 48 to trumps 47 . On the issues, about 40 of likely voters say the economy is the most important one to them that is followed by protecting democracy, immigration also abortion rights. But when it comes to trust the data shows voters overall back trump to handle the economy. 50 to harriss 39 earlier, trump turned his attention to that issue when he pitched his economic vision to voters in the
Battleground State
of georgia, that is where we find
Cnns Kristin
in holmes, live in savannah where trump just spoke tell us, did he stick to the economic message or did he go elsewhere almost never sticks to a message entirely and that was the case again today,
We Saw
Him Veer
off message into various tangents, multiple times. He relitigated the abc debate, attacking
Kamala Harris
attacking abc he called names
Kamala Harris
, who went through the details of both the first and second
Assassination Attempt
. And at one point he was talking about standing over french fries at mcdonalds. Is he accused
Kamala Harris
of never working at mcdonalds, but this was billed as an economic speech. And the reason why his campaign continues to hold these events and smoke all our venues to try and get him focused on the economy is because of the polling that you just talked about, because of the polling that shows that among likely voters, 50 of the voters are more likely to trust
Donald Trump
with the economy than they do. Kamala harris at 39 . That as a human huge margin. But again,
Donald Trump
has a hard time staying on message when he did talk about the economy, one of the things he promised was to essentially bring foreign jobs here as well as american jobs back to american soil. Take a listen with the vision im outlining today, not only will we stop our businesses from leaving for foreign lands, but under my leadership, we are going to take other countries jobs. Did you ever hear that expression before . Have you ever heard that were going to take other countries jobs . Its never been stated before. Were going to take their factories and we had it really rockin four years ago were going to bring thousands and thousands of businesses and trillions of dollars in wealth back to the good old usa just to be clear, we still dont really have any idea of how exactly he would plan to pay for any of this one of the things he has said is through tariffs. But one of the factchecks that we have here is on those tariffs. Essentially the fact that he has said that he would charge some countries to 200 on those tears but according to the tax foundation, they believe that this would actually raise taxes to 524 billion. And reduce fulltime jobs. Now,
Donald Trump
s seem to be pushing back on some of this that weve heard from economists that tariffs would not help the economy today, arguing that it wouldnt impact inflation. It would actually bring down inflation that is not what we have heard from economists really across the board when it comes to these tariffs that
Donald Trump
has been proposing because of the simple fact that consumers pay for tariffs. Thats just tarel. It works,
Kristen Holmes
and savannah, georgia. Thanks so much. Lets turn now to cnns matt egan. Matt trump, of course focusing on the economy, speaking about jobs,
Tax Cuts
, terrorists, among other things. What did you hear in his remarks that stood out to you . Was there were their new proposals in there well, jim former
President Trump
spent a lot of time talking about how he wants to create a
Manufacturing Renaissance
by a combination of yes, lower taxes. And as kristen was just saying, higher tariffs, but there were a number of misleading or even false statements in these trump remarks. Weve got to address a few of them for some tariffs he said that tariffs would not cause inflation even though many, many
Mainstream Economists
that ive talked to, they say the exact opposite. The
Peterson Institute
has said that the
Trumps Tariff Plan
would cost the typical middleincome family year, and that doesnt even account for the almost definite retaliation from other countries. Trump also, he falsely claimed that
Vice President
harris wants to ban fracking and end all
Fossil Fuel Production
, even though harris has said that she no longer wants to ban fracking and ending all
Fossil Fuel Production
would send
Gasoline Prices
to the moon should also note that under bidenharris, the u. S. Is producing more oil than ever before. Trump also did talk up his 2017
Tax Cuts
but he said they were the biggest ever even bigger than under ronald reagan. That is not true. Cnn has repeatedly fact checked. Its not the biggest on an inflation adjusted basis or relative to gdp also, we should note that
Tax Cuts
like what former
President Trump
is calling for, would be very expensive the nonpartisan
Budget Model
at penn wharton, where trump went to school, has estimated that his
Tax Cuts
and other policies would cost almost
6 Trillion
over a decade. Thats just one estimate, but still it is very telling. Now on tariffs, trump just yesterday was in pennsylvania where he talked up the who hundred
Percent Tariff
on an american company,
John Deere
. He said, if
John Deere
goes forward with their plans to move jobs and shut down production in the midwest and move it to mexico than he would impose this 200 tariff this is something that
Billionaire Mark
cuban has a blasted, he was on twitter where he said that that idea is quote, in scene. And he said that would be a good way to destroy a legendary american company and increased cost to american buyers one other point here, jim, is
Vice President
harris, of course, is going to make make her own economic
Speech Tomorrow
and ahead of that, she has landed a major endorsement from more than 400 economists. And former policymakers. Many of the policymakers from democratic administrations, including jason furman, alan blinder, brian deese, also some notable academics,
University Of Michigan
Economist Justin
wolfers and claudia golden who just won the nobel prize for economics. And yet still, despite these endorsements, we do know that
Cnn Poll
shows that the
Number One
issue for voters right now is the economy. And that voters trust trump, not harris on the economy. Yeah, the
Track Record
of those big letters, whether they be economists are national security experts, actually moving the vote at least uncertain. Matt egan, thanks so much. Brianna. Thanks. Good. Alright, lets talk more about what were seeing with
Pollster And Communication
strategist frank luntz. And i think whats really interesting in this latest poll that were seeing this
New Cnn Polling
frank, is that by and large, the economy, of course, is what matters to people that is further cemented, right . They also care of course about immigration. They care about abortion, they care about protecting democracy. But the economy is really the issue. And yet this is it. You see 48, 47, neck and neck. What does it take for these for one of these candidates to really break out . Well, let me be explicit. Its not. In fact the economy. Its affordability, its prices for
Housing And Health
care, for food and fuel, and this has been the issue now for the last year, it is
Donald Trump
s strongest case for his presidency. And
Kamala Harris
is weak his case. And yet trump doesnt seem to want to make it and even today, as you point out, that he gets off track off message that is incapable of drawing that distinction. If he can do it. This puts him in the
Drivers Seat
on the two key issues immigration and affordability. Trump has the advantage but on the attributes, on the type of person that can aides are. Harris has the advantage. And as a observer of this now for more than three decades, it is mindblowing to me that trump doesnt seem to understand this, and that harris has not been more forthcoming about the details of her economic plan and both of those are essential to the outcome and both of those makes an observer like me wonder what the heck is going on . Theres affordability which is a drag on harris. We see that in the poll numbers theres favourability, which she has made strides on in which is booing her, right. The fact that that has really made some movements since july for her and then also the fact the more people voting for her or who say theyre voting for her, likely voting for her say now that it is actually a vote for her, not just against
Donald Trump
. Shes made a switch. It seems with a sizable fraction of people, what do you make of that . Well, the candidate thats done the most that has improved their favourability the fastest in modern times since george w bush, right after 911 and harris is second. Its been that significant that positive and that is the reason why shes tied or leading in some of these key
Swing States
, which is something i need to emphasize to your viewers the actual overall numbers dont matter. It only matters in the seven
Swing States
and shes doing reasonably well in those places. But even with the negativity and even with the
Debate Performance
of the former president
Donald Trump
hes still holding on, hes still dead even with her and the
Thing Id
emphasize is that whoever is the focus of the coverage seems to be doing worse when the cameras in the lights are on. Harrison before that biden they did their numbers decreased when the same thing happens to
Donald Trump
his numbers decrease. My advice to both candidates, which youll appreciate
Donald Trump
needs to say and speak less and
Kamala Harris
needs to say and speak more. Is the exact opposite advice because the candidates situations are diametrically opposed very interesting. Cnn has learned that harris is planning to visit the southern border when she goes to arizona on friday
Cnn Polling
, of course, shows trump leading harris on the issue of immigration by 14 is a visit to the border at this stage in the race. Something that she can capitalize on or is that going to be really tough . I actually would have advise against it that her time to gone to the border was last year or the year before that. And now it only highlights the fact that she hasnt really focused on this issue even though she had some we cant determine what the actual responsibility was that she had in the administration because its been muddied. But this is an area that
Donald Trump
can say, just look at the numbers, look at the immigration statistics, look at the illegal immigration that took place under his administration and under the bidenharris administration. But once again, he starts to focus on eating dogs and cats. I dont understand this. Its as though hes trying to lose this race if he actually could actually could stay on message and could do this statistical
Comparisons Side
by side. I think he would be the front runner, but hes been incapable of doing that. Hes chosen not to do a debate with her and her going to the border is only going to remind voters that things have gotten worse over the last threeandahalf years so its an interesting strategy that may be, i would not have recommended very interesting and well be looking at that visit on friday frank luntz, thanks so much. Always. Appreciate it. Thank you jim. Brianna, turning back to our

Tanya Chutkan
has granted the special counsel,

, his proposal to submit a brief containing hundreds of pages the
Information And Evidence
related to the

here in washington, the federal case. There was a chance that could be released before the election. Cnn senior legal analyst,
Elie Honig
joins us now, elie, good to have you walk us through what specific
Information And Evidence
wed be likely to see when this is released. And would it be new evidence we havent seen before . So i think the answer is yes, jim, we are about to see some new important evidence from
Jack Smith
. Now, this whole dispute arises in the context of the
Question Of
, does
Donald Trump
have criminal immunity from prosecution . We know he does, but now the question is, how much does he have . Thats based on the
Supreme Court
s opinion. It came out back in july. What the parties are trying too they do now is litigate that question. Jack smith said, okay. The normal maximum for a brief here is 45 pages under the rules. But he asked for special permission to file a brief four times that size 180 pages yesterday,
Donald Trump
objected to that. He said it would violate my rights. It would harm me with the jury pool. It could harm me in the election. And
Today Chutkan
said, essentially, i dont so much care about those concerns. Im giving
Jack Smith
the right to file a brief up to 180 pages. And jim, i think were going to see all sorts of new and very interesting evidence attached to
Jack Smith
s filing when it comes in on thursday trumps team, as you note argued, it would be unfair politically. How to judge
Chutkin Answer
that argument she rejected that argument out of hand essentially,
Donald Trump
s team was arguing doj is violating its own policy, its own policy that you dont take steps to close to an election that might influence that election. And judge
Chutkans Response
essentially is, why is that my concern . I am here as a judge. Im part of the judicial branch, doj is over there in the executive branch. I dont make their policy for them. Im not responsible for enforcing it, so she rejected that argument is part of the reason why she came out the way she did now, the judge, of course, noted the
Supreme Court
s immunity ruling in this decision, given its a fact i mean, it was certainly affected
Jack Smith

Judge Chutkan says, well, look, the

Thats interesting, okay, so could be released before the election when will we know and how will that be decided
Jack Smiths filing is due on thursday, two days from today. Now, the question is, what will we see during the oral argument,
Jack Smiths team referenced the fact that they may attach certain
Grand Jury transcripts, certain what we call three whos which are fbi memos about interviews. However, both
Jack Smiths team and the judge have said they will be redacting out certain sensitive information. So i think its fair to say that on thursday, we are going to see a lot of really interesting new information about

The Middle East where the
Israeli Military says it is launching a new round of strikes on hezbollah targets inside lebanon. And right now, the israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu, is holding a
Security Briefing on the situation. The idf claims a strike earlier today killed three
Hezbollah Missile commanders. These in a suburb of beirut. The escalating conflict very much stoking what were already high fears in the region. Lets speak about more of this. All of this joining us
Now Cnn National Security analyst, former
Deputy Director of national intelligence, beth sanner. Beth good to have you on as always thanks, jim listen for months, almost a year now, going back to october 7, the fear had been that this war expands beyond gaza where its already been enormous and quite deadly. Two other fronts. We saw yesterday the deadliest day in lebanon since the 2000 war,
The Last Time israel went to war with hezbollah in lebanon are we on the brink of that allout war folks have been worried about or are we already there to some degree like the latter. I mean, i think its hard to look around and see whats going on and not feel that this is war. I mean, we have over 500 people dead in lebanon. We have
1 Million people in israel who have been running to shelters because rockets and missiles are coming in from lebanon. Since october 8, youve had over 8,000 missiles and rockets exchanged by both sides. So this, this front has been active, but now we are as you said, at the most intense operation, we have seen since the 2006 war where israel went into lebanon. Thats good point. I was in northern israel again a couple of weeks ago that there still large portion of northern israel that have been forcefully evacuated. Some 60,000 israelis forced to move south because of those strikes. To our understanding, close to 100,000 lebanese have been forced to move north on the border. So folks have already been reacting to that fire. I wonder if you see a ground operation, a
Ground Invasion coming following these airstrikes today, thats been largely, largely airstrikes plus this unprecedented attack blowing up thousands theres a pagers and walkietalkies is that the next step of this . A
Ground Invasion i mean, i think that what were seeing right now are a couple of things. I think were seeing an effort to really eliminate decapitate the senior leadership, military leadership of hezbollah they have pretty much killed all of the most senior commanders and taken out a lot of midlevel commanders as well from the pager attacks. And then whats going on . Now. And even before that, then the
Missile Attacks that these, these
Air Campaign that we are seeing in full force. And one israeli
Air Force Person said, officers said that this is the most intense campaign that the israeli
Air Force has conducted in its history so those are aimed at eliminating all of the
Missile And Rocket force the actual missiles and launchers that they can find and clearly israel has mapped out over the years but the other part of this is israel trying to escalate to deescalate. We hear this all the time. In other words forcing them to the
Negotiating Table or are they actually preparing the way for
Ground Invasion . And maybe both of those things . I mean, i wonder though, because there was an effort for negotiation in gaza, right . For a ceasefire, just a ceasefire and to get some of those many dozens of hostages that are still there and that hasnt gone anywhere. Arguably, those negotiations are going in the wrong direction. It was those negotiations that were supposed to help keep hezbollah from getting involved to a larger degree because they wanted to give some oxygen to the negotiation. So what are the actual prospects for a negotiated settlement to this given the negotiations to find some way forward in gaza, have really gone nowhere of the things thats really different about this campaign in gaza is that theres pretty much uniform agreement among all military political leaders and the israeli public that this campaign in lebanon is necessary. There is no hostage you know, hostages are more important, none of that. All agree. And the reason is because basically this part of northern israel, theres, there are villages that are completely destroyed now, but
No One will feel safe to go home. So youre basically saying this entire part of israels uninhabited uninhabitable. And this is one of the goals of the axis of resistance, right and so i do think that its very different. There. There is a chance that they would go to the
Negotiating Table, but i dont think we should forget and ill like to add this context is that the un resolution 17 . No that ended the 2006 war actually required his beloved to move north out away from the border and create this
Buffer Zone that was never enforced. And so it allowed his bullet to move all these missiles in the brett that israelis feel now and the north is too much for them to handle basic going back again just to the wake of october 7, one thing i heard consistently from israelis is that once the war is finished in gaza, to finish the job, you would often hear that phrasing in the north beth sanner. Thanks so much

On Cnn this just in to cnn,
Merrick Garland,
Attorney General, speaking at the department of justice just moments ago, asked specifically about the second
Assassination Attempt on
Donald Trump. Have listened to his the answer handle the case whats your reaction to that the attempted assassination on the former president was a heinous act. Im grateful that hes safe. And as i said, immediately after the event the
Justice Department would spare no resource to ensure accountability in this matter. Since then, our prosecutors and agents only ten days ago, our prosecutors and agents have been working around the clock to discover the necessary evidence that to ensure accountability in just the last few days new information was developed. And it was put in evidence in the court for the
Detention Hearing, which was necessary to ensure in the short term that the defendant in the matter would not be released while the investigation continues as we sit as a united states said, in that
Detention Hearing further additional charges will soon be filed. All of our
Top Priority should be ensuring that accountability occurs in this case. And that those who run for office and their families are safe and protected officials that want to do their own investigation. Our job i was the
Attorney General there speaking in response to questions about the second
Assassination Attempt on
Donald Trump, which the
Attorney General
Merrick Garland there called a heinous act. Well another story were following
Today And Missouri inmate is set to die in just a matter of hours, even though the office that prosecuted him has asked for his
Murder Conviction to be overturned, citing new evidence which could show hes innocent. Despite a flurry of appeals,
Missouri Missouri Supreme Court and the governor have refused to grant 50. Marcellus williams a stay of execution. Cnns
Whitney Wild joins us now, when you can you describe this new evidence and why, even with the
Prosecutors Office asking that this be overturned, this conviction this execution seems to be proceeding
Supreme Court doesnt intervene in the next few hours, jim, that is what we expect will happen in
Missouri Tonight that
Marcellus Williams will be killed by lethal injection. And let me just walk you through the case here. So this case goes back to 2001. This is a more than two decades fight to try to save ourselves sams from the death penalty. He was convicted in 1998 of the
Stabbing Death of a woman named
Felicia Gail he and his supporters and his family has been fighting again for two decades because he has adamantly maintained his innocence. And in fact, jim, the former
Missouri Governor
Eric Greitens, actually launched a commission to try to explore whether he is improperly on
Death Row. It improperly tried that commission that was launched under
Eric Greitens was disbanded under the current governor of missouri,
Michael Parson again, there have been a flurry of appeals in this case. And in fact, over the weekend pretty rare move the st. Louis prosecutor, wesley bell, and
Marcellus Williams,
Attorney Jonathan pots filed this joint motion saying, look, there are two major issues here in the first is that
Marcellus Williams was denied his
Right To A Fair Trial when a former prosecutor on his first case struck a juror because that juror was black and believed looked like
Marcellus Williams. That is a point that attorneys representing missouri
Attorney General, andrew bailey, disagree with. They say there was no racial bias there. And then further, jim, the other piece of evidence that they that those supporting ourselves, williams
Think Exonerate him. Is this
Dna Evidence and what they argue is that there would have been
Dna Evidence that would have exonerated williams from this case. However, recent
Dna Testing showed that
Murder Weapon the dna was contaminated when law enforcement, a prosecutor, and one of the investigators working on that
Case Handle that
Murder Weapon with their hands and not with gloves. Again, this was more than two decades ago, the state
Attorney Generals office arguing that that was an unintentional effect. That they didnt know enough about dna at the time to maintain the what we now would consider the integrity of that dna. Either way, these were not arguments that the
Missouri Supreme Court agreed with now,
Marcellus Williams, as we know, very likely set to die at 6 00 central his family though saying that they will be by his side last word was us
Supreme Court
Whitney Wild. Thanks so much. Brianna. Lets talk more now about this case. We have mercedes colwin, who is a legal analysts in a
Trial Attorney to take because through some of it, i wonder mercedes, what you think about what the
Missouri Supreme Court said here, considering you have st. Louis prosecutors write this is not defensive prosecutors who had argued that
Dna Testing could exclude williams as the killer but then you did have that
Argument Fall apart last month when it turned out that the
Murder Weapon had been contaminated with a former prosecutor and former investigators dna. What do you think about what the court said here . Shes are extraordinary circumstances surrounding ourselves, williams. Were talking its exactly what youre saying, brianna. We have not just the passionate
Defense Attorneys arguing for his innocence. You also have the
Prosecutions Office of prosecuting
Attorney Bell arguing the same thing to the court that this has to be set aside. There is irreparable harm will happen and innocent man could frankly be, if you look at the time, a few hours away from his execution, and thats why the prosecutor they are bell has said set it aside. Let us have a fair hearing. Not only is their
Dna Contamination that could really have deprived them of due process. The second part is that these informants quote
Unquote Informants may have been unreliable because there was a 10,000 reward and they were had legal trouble rounding their testimony. Nonetheless, these are very significant pieces of evidence that need to be explored if its not explored, if the state doesnt happen, it could it could lead to the execution of an innocent man that incentivize testimony. One of the people as well had this option, this shortened sentence, right. So these were highly incentivized witnesses, which often plays a role in exonerations. When you look at the records that are captive exonerations, theres also the
Question Of
Whether A Black Juror was wrongly excluded from the jury. Do you think that the
Supreme Court looks at these things and intervenes or not should the u. S. Supreme court can step in and they do. On they have obviously they have full discretion as to whether they can stay the execution so theres still is that plea to the u. S. Supreme court . Just stop the execution and remand it for further and vet not further investigation, but a further hearing. Thats whats being asked. Even in what was really extraordinary is that once even
Attorney Bill had an agreement on the record, were williams had agreed to plea and have that plea then have a
Life Sentence and stop the execution that was stricken as well. So these are extraordinary circumstances, brianna, theres really no reason why this, this
Execution Shouldnt be stayed, that these matters and the evidence thats been raised looked into there really isnt anything that could validate the stay of this that could validate a proceeding with the execution when you have such extraordinary circumstances and such extraordinary evidence, and the fact that you have both the prosecution and the defense are aligned and wanted to stay the execution. It is completely befuddling why this wasnt done if the
Supreme Court does not intervene and
Marcellus Williams is executed despite these glaring issues what does that do to the legitimacy of
Capital Punishment broadly and particularly in missouri, were a number of
Death Row Inmate, inmates found guilty since the 70s had been exonerated question, brianna, it certainly calls into question the legitimacy. Think about it since the
Capital Punishment has been on the books since 1973, there have been 200 individuals ever convicted and placed on
Death Row that were later than exonerated. Thats 200 lives that were spared because through the appellate process, they were able to actually establish that they were in a innocent of the crimes that they were convicted of. But how many others are we talking about . That have that have gone through this process . And more absolutely innocent. And it goes back to the
Dna Evidence. The
Dna Evidence is has so much evolved since the conviction of
Marcellus Williams. And thats one of the issues that prosecuted
Attorney Bill raise that at the time the
Dna Evidence that was at that time was not as sophisticated as it is currently and that alone should allow be the compelling reason why this should this execution be stay further investigation be done. But at the end of the day, really have to question the legitimacy of
Capital Punishment when you am circumstances like this where you cant even stop it when theres such compelling arguments to stop the execution it is, as you said before, rolling here and the clock is ticking. Were looking at it here, 34 43 eastern. He has still 6 00 p. M. Central. That is 7 00 p. M. Eastern. So he has a few hours and 17 minutes. The clock truly ticking here for
Marcellus Williams, mercedes colwin. Thank you so much. Thank you

Sex Assault allegations. A woman named

11th Suit against combs talia. Graves says that back in 2000 isnt than one that she was with day she was dating actually one of his associates, but he convinced her to have what she thought was an innocent meeting. And that is when she claims that she was given a drink that she assumes was laced with drugs. She lost consciousness and when she woke up, she was bound and then was raped by diddy and his bodyguard at the time. Now, she goes on to say, in this lawsuit that it was over 20 years after this alleged attack that she learned but the incident was actually taped and she found out about that video in november 2023. Now, lets

Now, she talia said that she was threatened over the years about this video, but she didnt elaborate more on that. Good lord of the details are just so alarming. Elizabeth wagmeister, thanks so much. Cnn Health Reporter jacqueline howard. Jacqueline, not all of these women were seeking abortions well, brianna, these are charges that are related to just in general pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or giving birth. So these include many different scenarios like that. And what we are seeing is that within a single year from
June 2022 to june 2023, here in the united states, there were more than 200 cases where a pregnant woman faced criminal charges related to her pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or giving birth. In some cases is like you said, unrelated to abortion. Some of them may you have not even been related to abortion. And many of these cases include the concept of whats called fetal personhood. So at legal rights were extended to a fetus. And in many of these cases, there was perceived harm or perceived risk to the fetus. And these data come from the nonprofit called pregnancy justice. And according to the nonprofit the majority of these cases, more than half were reported in alabama. And other third were in oklahoma, and nearly a dozen, ten total were in south carolina. All of those states have strict abortion laws. Most of these cases were in states where either abortion was banned or highly restricted. Brianna anna is that an uptick from before the
