For many performers, acting in their hometownâs community theater fulfills their dreams of being onstage, even if they arenât Broadway-bound. The nonprofit Stagecrafters Community Theatre, housed in the historical Baldwin Theatre in downtown Royal Oak, has for decades welcomed talented people from all over Metro Detroit to take a turn in the spotlight and get a taste of Broadway in their own back yard. And Stagecrafters has seen a lot of talented performers come through its doors on their way to fame. Jeffrey Sellers, producer of âHamilton,â television and film actress Kristin Bell, and award-winning Broadway star Sutton Foster are a few of the more well-known artists who have tread the boards in Stagecrafters productions.
