The event will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Douglas County Government Center. Friday, Jan. 8 Superior: Learn the art of “Tracking on Snowshoes" with the Lake Superior Estuarine Research Reserve 1-3 p.m. in the Superior Municipal Forest. Monday, Jan. 11 Superior: The Small Business Development Center at UW-Superior will host a free seminar titled “First steps to starting a food product business” from 6-8 p.m. The virtual event will feature chef Arlene Coco, a long-time food business owner and culinary innovation strategist. Coco will help participants understand how to start a business before they start their journeys, including establishing a niche and conducting market research to ensure a competitive advantage; writing a business plan; learning the responsibilities and regulatory requirements of the product they produce; and recordkeeping.
