Community members voice concerns over proposed rezoning, say it would ruin Brooklyn Botanic Garden News 12 Staff Updated on: Jul 28, 2021, 9:56pm Community members gathered at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Wednesday to voice their opposition to a project that they say would ruin the garden. Community members say that if a rezoning proposal is approved, it would be extremely hurtful to the community and all the plant species that live there. The Fight for Sunlight campaign has been speaking out since the developer unveiled the project. Nearly 60,000 residents have signed the position rejecting the developer’s application. Community Board 9 rejected the proposal in June, stating that the current zoning considered heights projects for the gardens to be sustained.
