Companies testing long-distance powerline communications module MIRAIT, MMD, NURI Telecom and Socionext are to jointly conduct a test verification using a compact PoC system that will be equipped with the next-generation long-distance power line communication LSI, currently being developed by Socionext. This PoC for system verification will be available in April this year, while mass production of the LSI is scheduled to start during fiscal year 2021 (April 2021 â March 2022). The companies will make specific studies into social implementation mainly in the energy and ICT fields. HD-PLC (High Definition Power Line Communication) is a technology that complies with the international standard IEEE 1901-2020 to put communication signals on power lines, unlike ordinary communication networks, wired or wireless. It eliminates the need for dedicated communication networks for individual devices by utilizing power lines to deliver communication between devices while consolidating the signals into power lines.
