A jailer, an assistant surgeon of Chattogram jail hospital and a civilian are the other named accused, said Advocate Bhulon Lal Bhoumik, the prisoner's lawyer. Prisoner Rupam Kanti Nath, who was allegedly tortured by the four, is undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) under the custody of jail authority, said Advocate Bhulon. The victim's wife Jharna Rani Debnath lodged the complaint with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Hossain Md Reza today accusing the three jail officials and one Ratan Bhattachariya, Rupam's business partner, for torturing her husband in jail custody. The court did not pass any order after filing of the complaint, added the lawyer.
