Trap trees are trees that have been cut and left lying on the ground to attract mature spruce beetles in the spring. Beetles are more likely to infest a trap tree than a standing tree, so the use of trap trees can reduce the infestation of healthy trees nearby. Burns will be conducted when weather and other conditions allow, between today and the end of the month. BC Wildfire Service crews will be on the scene to control and monitor the burn piles. The burns will conducted in the area west of Foothills Boulevard, north of North Nechako Road and south of Chief Lake Road.
