Cop was justified in firing at armed man during central Pa. standoff, DA says Updated Apr 30, 2021; A police officer was justified in firing a shot at an armed man who was aiming a rifle at other officers during a nine-hour standoff in Lancaster County, the district attorney has concluded. DA Heather Adams said the officer fired one round from his pistol when Shawn Stryker, 49, came onto the porch of his West Hempfield Township home with a rifle on Jan. 3 after police were called to the house for a domestic incident. Stryker brought the rifle to firing position toward other officers when the officer fired toward Stryker to cover the threatened police, Adams said. The shot missed Stryker, who promptly retreated into his house, she said.
