Cornwall council briefs: New word in strategic plan

The City of Cornwall’s strategic plan mission statement has an extra word after a council decision Monday.
Most of council agreed to support a resolution from Coun. Elaine MacDonald that would see the addition of socially within the statement.  Previously, the statement read; “To provide services that enable a financially and environmentally sustainable community which will care and provide for the needs and values of its residents.”

“I think that if something is not written down, then it’s easier somehow easier to minimize it in the future,” said MacDonald. “To make sure that we always use those three reference points — financially, environmentally, and socially — when we are developing policies just makes good sense. To me, this is essential. I think this is time that we put the word in.”
