NEW DELHI: The second wave of coronavirus is turning out to be more severe than the first one. On Thursday, India recorded 2,17,353 new Covid infections and 1,185 casualties, the highest in a single day since the outbreak of pandemic, according to updated data released by Union ministry of health and family welfare. This has pushed the total tally to 1,42,91,917. So far, 1,74,308 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus in the country. The active caseload stands at 15,69,743. Five states-Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, UP, Karnataka and Kerala account for 67.16% of total active cases. Read Also
