Ridgecrest Daily Independent Ridgecrest City Council on Wednesday approved $41,210 for work related to the Bowman Channel between South Norma Street and South China Lake Boulevard. The amount will be added to the $92,662 contract with Willdan Engineering for a total of $133,872. The project will be funded by drainage impact fees, according to a staff report. "The acceptance of this proposal will complete another section of the Bowman Channel" which is the "primary flood control device" on the southern side of Ridgecrest according to the report. The report further states that the project "needs to be a priority of the council." City staff estimates that the project has the potential to impact over 1,000 homes.
