Council hearing briefings on EMS dispatch, flood preparednes

Council is hearing presentations on the switch from local EMS dispatch to the provincial model, as well as flood preparedness at Tuesday’s meeting. Council will also discuss a new proposed Land Use Bylaw and potentially expand the Waterfront Park Project.
On Jan. 19, Alberta Health Services dispatch system which centralizes out of call centres in Calgary, Edmonton and Pace River, replaced local dispatchers. The system was introduced in 2009 by the former PC government, while the current UCP-led government and former NDP government continued the system.
