Wicked Local Burlington schools reported COVID-19 cases at several schools last week, even as numbers continued their week over week drop Cases were reported at Fox Hill Elementary School, Marshall Simonds Middle School, Burlington High School and the Burlington Early Childhood Center. On Friday, March 11, the state announced the launch of a new vaccine preregistration system, where all residents can add their names and eligibility details, and get notified when they can make an appointment at the mass vaccination site closest to them. This week, School Superintendent Dr. Eric Conti announced, as per state requirement, elementary school students would return to the classroom for full day in-person learning five days per week no later than April 5, and middle school students, by April 28. With the exception of 400 students who opted for fully remote learning, Burlington elementary school children have been attending class on an abbreviated schedule since the start of September. The new regulations, announced last week by the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, will require the addition of lunch, recess and an afternoon lesson, Conti said this week.
