MYSURU: The surge in Covid-19 cases that Mysuru district witnessed in the second iteration of the pandemic has not deterred the authorities in the healthcare department from registering an impressive 56.8% coverage in administering of the vaccine – the first dose – for those aged above 44 years.
That the average coverage in Karnataka is 37.6% sets Mysuru’s accomplishment in stark relief, more so because it is the only district to have achieved over 50% coverage.
Data from the district health department shows that 6,30,661 people have been administered the first dose the vaccine, as on Sunday, of whom, 69,865 have received the second dose too. As many as 376 centres have been set up to vaccinate the populace, of which 352 are run by the government.
