Nurse shortages in a community mental health service are piling additional pressure on existing staff and mean patients are not always receiving continuity of care, inspectors warned.
They found that Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust was facing particular issues in recruiting physical health lead nurses, meaning patients have to be referred elsewhere for certain procedures.
“Staff across the teams reported feeling under pressure with their general workload"
CQC report
The Care Quality Commission sent inspectors to assess the trust’s community-based mental health service for adults of working age in November after receiving information that raised concern about the safety and quality of the service.
