The case was lodged under Section 26 of the Representation of the People (RP) Act and sections 187 and 188 of the IPC. The officials failed to submit any prior intimation or seek permission for their absence, displaying colossal defiance, disobedience, negligence, and dereliction of duty. Charges against the nine officials are identical and grave.
