Governor desantis all right. Well, good morning or afternoon. Nowadays. Se track this is an important part of the states response to the covid19 virus. This is a state logistics response center. It since about 2007, and a lot of other states have almost t, but this is 200,000 square feet of climatecontrolled warehouse space. Also, almost 20,000 square feet of logistics and command level offices, Conference Rooms and supports area. Today, this is going to be 24 7. G its been making a lot of deliveries around the state. Round its going to be the clock until we get on the other side of this. Here re will be employees nonstop. The National Guard has been reat in assisting us with what were doing. This response is very heavily a lot of key medical supplies, and so these masks so e the n95 that Health Care Workers are protected. Them to o distributing Nursing Homes and assisted living facilities so any staff our comes into contact with elderly residents is wearing a ask and we can mitigate any transmission in those centers. And that is really important. How re going to have much probably within the next eek, how many masks do you think . Over a million n95 masks. Millions more the weeks after that. This is very cutthroat right now. The distributors, most of the being directed to new york city because of whats going on there. Good job is doing a getting a lot here for the state of florida. So when that stuff comes in, to the tributed out counties, the Emergency Operations outfits in the theyre able then to work with local government, the hospitals, whoever may need of this. So we understand thats important. For Health Care Workers, protective equipment is probably the number one issue. Just look and say, ok, we only have so much. Of the patients come in that is infected they have to p. P. E. E if they dont and theyre exposed then they have to selfisolate for 14 days. That, anyone they had close contact with, particularly heir coworkers, will have to selfisolate for 14 days. A lot of hospitals are rightfully concerned about ending up with a lot of their people in selfisolation. So we want to avoid that. We want to give folks the protect themselves. Obviously we also dont want them to get infected as well. Sending this stuff out is very significant. Everyone has, quote, testing kits, but what is the ort supply is collection swabs to take the sample. O the state labs can run the tests. We have other certified labs throughout the state of florida tests. Run the we just need to have enough collection swabs to be able to and then send it to the labs. So we have, you know, more day. Ling in every again, a lot of the supply being distributed to new york city or diverted to new york city. Something thats important so the site today that oure seeing people go through at the Orange County convention center, that was a partnership. Hats the federal government providing supplies. And then state and local administering it. He federal government only processes 250 swabs a day out of those sites. So people know, thats their rule. We did a site down in broward ounty with the National Guard and Memorial Health care, we got it up to about 750 a day. Hats been going on for many days trying to get more test results. The test results are important people are antsy. This is an invisible enemy. Here is a lot we dont know about it. If people have symptoms, 65 icularly those who are and older who have a serious underlying medical condition they want to know. People to y way for have access to a test, go through and then most of the 90 , even amongst people attic and m symptomatic, those who tend to older and symptomatic, 90 negative. It is good for their peace of mind to see that and know whats on. G we in the state of florida have seniors, 65 and older, nd anybody with a serious underlying medical condition to stay at home. Is this group of individuals are the ones who suffer the worst consequences if contract the virus, and obviously people have talked bout the elderly, but an underlying medical condition, if you have some of these conditions like diabetes and other things, lung problems, you could be 30 years old, but that underlying condition, it doesnt well if you get infected by the virus. And so its not just elderly. Serious underlying medical condition. And our mendation Public Health advisory is to stay at home for the next two weeks. See how the data comes in and see what its looking like nd obviously be able to reassess. Thats really the best way that we can prevent bad outcomes here of florida. And if youre Somebody Just in the general public but particularly in those groups, know, just assume whatever youre doing, anyone you come in potentially could have it. And so keep a safe distance from people. Your hands and just understand that this is not a measles where it can infect 10, 12 people very easily. Is one that really if youre in close contact thats hen youre more vulnerable to it. So avoid crowds. Avoid close contact with people end up and assume some people have the virus. The c. D. C. One all mitigation measures statewide. Pretty sweeping mitigation measures. We did that as part of the 10day or 15day to spread. Then, different communities have done additional mitigation measures. Basically down to essential businesses. Everyone else is staying at home. Central florida theyve done something similar. Weve supported working with the to apply an ties approach that makes sense there. We have other parts of the state have sporadic cases and we still do the containment easures and we still do other mitigations, but that approach will be different. In terms of the challenges that were facing ight now, i think people realize that kind of the ep enters of this thing epicenters of this thing shifted. First it was wuhan, china. Italy. T went to now the epicenter worldwide is city. Rk were rooting for new york to get through it. We hope they will be able to health. Ple in good obviously, they have a lot of cases. But whats happened is and for florida is once the shelter in place was fleeing eople started the city. They started getting on flights the oing places all across world the united states, i should say. Many of those flights are here florida. Just as an example, you go back o march 17, flights from the new york city area to orlando, there were zero flights. One flight. 19th, one flight. He 20th, nine flights, because the order had been announced, not enforced. Hen, once you get beyond that, starting march 21 and each day, 44, 26. Ts, so thats a lot of traffic of top hot zone e being brought into floridas communities. Saw that these flights were this uptick, i order an executive requiring everybody arriving rom the new york city area to selfquarantine for 14 days. We have National Guard and some ther health folks at the airports. All these folks are having their they have to provide information. Provide a place where they will be selfisolating. And that is enforceable under order so they could face adverse consequences. My sense is most people will to selfisolate. I think they want to listen to directives. N case they dont, you know, were going to have an ability to deal with it. And i talked to dr. Birx about this. This virus has been circulating widely in new york city for certainly weeks and maybe more than that. Nd so ive also issued an executive order that any floridian, anybody in florida in new w who has been york city area for the last hree weeks should selfisolate and should identify any people in florida that they had close them know h and let that they had come from the hot shouldd that these folks check their symptoms. At the end of the day we have 21 million peopleplus here. We have a lot going on. Across rking diligently the state to be able to win this battle. This makes it more difficult more people flooding in when they were given stay at home shelter in place order. Please, please, if youre one of who come from the hot zone, dr. Fauci said yesterday, you have a much being infected coming out of that region than anywhere else in the country right now. Need to , you selfisolate. Thats the requirement in florida. Think do that, then i well be able to work and keep safe. Rrent residents and the white house is also on board with this. He Vice President issued directions about regardless of where youre going, if youre leaving the new york city area, sure youre selfisolating for 14 days. So thats very, very important. Orange county center here that youll have. I was visited earlier. Through. E going guard did a great job. We also have some of the folks procured in as terms of nurses and medical technicians who are working on a contract basis. These people are from other parts of florida. Some from other states. And theyre here to be able to us with the needs here going forward. At lso have testing site Hard Rock Stadium in miamidade county. Enough as we have collection swabs, well probably open up one at the marlins in miamidade. Duval county has a test site at he Jacksonville Jaguars stadium. Its run very well. And then broward memorial conjunction with the florida National Guard and my office. Week, and hat last its been doing about 700 to 750 swabs a day. Thats very, very important for folks down in broward who community ve seen spread there, but then now we also have people flying in and think thats going to exacerbate it. So its really important to be the people, ify have them isolate, and try to blunt the spread of this thing. Finally, we have a test site at the villages here in florida. Its in conjunction with u. F. Health. U. F. Health is doing a great thing. Doing typical clinical wabs for people that may have symptoms, but theyre also doing a Research Project so its going testing to tryom o figure out how widely disbursed this virus may be. No one really knows whether the virus anduire really not even know it and then pass it onto other people. Out there whoople get it are just without symptoms and never even think about it thats true that they can do that, are they contagious at that point . O theyre going to be looking at all those and theyll try to get a handle how widespread this ould be in a place like the villages . Theyre doing all the social distancing. The restaurants are closed, everything. A very active community, and so it will be interesting to see, but that some of the rm on policy in terms of what were doing here. Work hard on to all this. I think right now if you look at cases, you mber of have a strong number. But not a majority certainly close in southeast florida and the three southeast counties, broward, miamidade, and palm beach. Looking mething were at very closely, particularly now if new people are coming in ceding additional infections in parts of florida. I will get an update on some of he logistics efforts being undertaken by the state of florida. But the message is i think just working, everyone, just hard and staying safe. Older, if you have a serious underlying medical condition, staying at state of at the florida is recommending for you. If you do that and you limit contact with people, you a w, youre going to have really, areally good chance this all right. Those in the fight, Health Care Workers, first responders, i hard. You for working very i can tell you in tallahassee everyone has been working seven i s a week and no rest and know thats true throughout the state of florida so you have my gratitude for what youre doing. Jared. Jared governor, thank you. To the slrcr coming which has been the warehouse run mostly Hurricane Missions out of. In fact, weve been retooling warehouse now for the last several days, moving out urricane supplies so we can make more room, obviously, for health care and Health Supplies is a new viously mission. Governor, its because of your irection and your leadership with the division that early investments made and early on in to expand llowed us our Logistics Operations by, a, investingour team, b, in employees, also the fact we were able to get a logistics a logistics rd contract so we can have vendors e. O. C. , making sure that florida is a priority. And youre seeing thats why able to make order of these products over 3 1 2 weeks ago and those products, those a modities are coming in on rolling basis. So we are starting to really the the tide, get around corner on getting this p. P. E. In and getting it out rolling. 5,000 Mission Requests and those are being filled on an ongoing basis in with our partners at Florida Health, making sure we critical needs ost, Nursing Homes, first responders. Going down on p. P. E. Weve asked the federal n95 nment for two Million Masks from the Strategic National stockpile. Thankfully the federal good ment has pushed a deal of product from the s. N. S. Here to help fill gaps until our endors could start getting things in from manufacturing plants around the country and ut of the country, quite frankly. Were flying stuff in from all over the place. So youre talking gowns and booties and tieback suits. 2,000 ventilators we ordered. 5,000 ventilators we asked from government. In the other room, we have hospital beds, we ordered 3,000 of those. I. C. U. Beds. This is a massive basically sure l operation, making that while we dont necessarily have that need today, making have hat were ready to that need in the future. A lot of people think Emergency Management in the state of hurricanes. Ust but all of our Emergency Managers around the state and counties different know that we have a lot more responsibilities and we got to be thinking ahead. Actually today the army corps is out there doing at ssments for us, looking old hospital buildings, old hospital wings trying to figure we can bring online for bed capacity. Hospitals being deployed to get a gap measure so online. Ring them i want to thank the National Guard, Florida Health and all of cert people lorida who are here helping run the warehouse. The governor said were going to day. Urs a e had to get 15 18wheelers to get it out of the warehouse and those are being kept in another location so we can increase here. So we really appreciate all of their efforts. Team effort. Een a governor, thank you. Thanks, desantis jared. I want to thank mayor demings and everyone in Orange County of their hard work. This is a very dynamic and vibrant place. Little different when disney is not going and things of that nature, but well get there. So i want to thank the mayor for working hard. I also want to thank the sheriff his hard work and these re this is a little bit different mission, you know, for Law Enforcement than some of the other things. I know we worked closely with and things like that. But its a very important mission. I know theyre working very hard able to get it right. So thank you. To take some happy questions. [inaudible] so the mas ntis mass so the masks, the priority are the health care orkers and Nursing Homes and a. L. F. s. Its good if Law Enforcement is able to do but not every deputy will need it. Depends on the mission. It, jared as they get puts them out to the various counties. I think we look to see and figure out what the need would be in terms of different capacities to do, but, its a very, very urgent priority. When we started this, you know, he ordered all this stuff. We started getting stuff in. And then the crunch happened. Never seen a stronger runch on wanting medical supplies in american history. This was it. And obviously you had some that were flaring up Like Washington state and later new york city. Had to compete with that. But as we get these masks and million getting many over the next hopefully week or two. Certainly within the next week hundreds of e thousands more. Their directive is to get it those emergency operators so theyre able to work with their communities to it. Yes, sir. Indiscernible] Governor Desantis its not a mixed message. Dr. Birx said yesterday what a datedriven approach florida has had. Not every aid instrument is appropriate in every population in the country. So we have a situation here where, you know, we obviously southeast ak in florida so theyve gone to a stay at home. I worked with them on that. Of the orders to harmonize palm beach and broward counties. Obviously essential florida counties Central Florida together. Orked thats fine. There are certain parts of the state where you have more poradic cases and to issue to order someone not to be able to earn a paycheck when them going to work is not going to effect on what were doing with the virus, you know, hats something i think is inappropriate. I talked with mayor of jacksonville and i said, look, im willing to work with you on whatever. You want to work with your surrounded counties. If you want to go that route let me know and he just didnt think it made sense given the circumstances and so thats why. Some of d when you do these things, people respond different ways. You have to think what the second order effect is. New york did shelter in place, that caused thousands and thousands of people to flee. Going to make it more difficult, i think, nationwide for us to get a grip stuff. You look at california, they were ordered not to go to work out on ou look, theyre partying, theyre at beaches and stuff. Ou are probably less dangerous just driving your car going to the office than being with crowds of hundreds of people. O you just got to think it through. I supported the local things. Its a more surgical approach. Also is mitigating any amage that would be done for blunt instruments being applied in places throughout the state where it wouldnt be appropriate. [inaudible] Governor Desantis its a tough issue. We could set up checkpoints and stuff and say, ok. You come from new york . Where did you come from . He proble
