Hawthorne teams in and in houston doing their internal gono go for docking. Once everyone is go, we will be able to give the final goahead. 0 meters away at the international dock. Number two attached, meeting adapter number 2 at the very forward end of the harmony see the hash, you can see a couple of handles. There is a feature that looks a little bronzeish. Thats part of the soft capture system. So pretty wild, were so close that were getting shadows from the station on dragon, wow. These are viewed from two cameras. The movement is a little jarring at times. These cameras are being commanded by a person at th thee console through houston. They continue to follow dragon in. We thank them for their diligence to give us these views as were just less than 30 minutes away from docking. Right above the nasa meatball logo you can seethree of the Service Section draco thrusters. Thats right, 12 in all. Four of those clusters spread around the vehicle. Used for a lot of attitude control. And translational maneuvers. The Second Annual flight test. Actually, oriented in a way if you were to lose some of those thrusters, you would still have redundancy. Thats why theyre at the angles that they are. All right, so we should be getting to way point two right now. So it looks like we have that hold. The ground is go for approach two. Well resume shortly. Ensure that your visors are closed, and once dragon is inside the crew hands off is not permitted. We have sunset in a little less than 8. 5 minutes. Confirming they are he go for docking. Theyll put down their advisers. There are instructions by the crew hands off point. We dont want the crew issuing any commands to the vehicle. Its about two meters away from the docking adapter, i believe the number is 1. 7 meters. Station on the big lube. Houston go for docking. Steps three and four. Three and four approach and retrieve monitor. Copy steps three and four. Our visors are down. Copy, visors down. The crew confirming the crisisser down. We should see the final approach resume. Approach has resumed. Dragon closing in. Were inside 20 meters. That crew hands off point should come up in about three minutes or so. Right before we get that final docking, it comes 20 seconds prior or two meters away from the station still. And thats just the crew not issuing any abort commands. At that point it would be too late, so any aborts would be executed automatically by dragon itself. Were closing in at less than a tenth of a meter per second. You can see theyre doing all these very small minor attitude corrections. Really, the autonomous docking system at work making sure that the vestibule and the soft capture system was lined up with the docking adapter. You can see much more clearly there. The four black circles are th thethey are not to be used at this time. And the soft pedalswow. We cant make out the target but we do see the outline. Were less than ten meters away. Were closing at that rate of less than a tenth of a meter per second. We should be about one minute 45 seconds from docking. There is a center line camera right in that middle so you can see where the forward hatch is. Right in the middle of that is a window, a center line camera and the center of the docking mechanism. So that is what the autonomous docking system is using to line up with a cross hatch, cross target on the docking port. Again, the forward docking port adapter. Were just five meters away. Again, were racing that sunset. They continue to close, four meters to go. The shadows of the station of the vehicle you can see the center line camera pretty clearly there with the contrast of the sun right there. Three meters to go. Two meters. Were inside the handsoff point. One meter to go. Soft capture complete. Soft capture confirmed. Stand by for docking. We have docking. Flying 262 miles over the board of northern china and mongolia. You saw a little bit of emotiomotion, once that motion s clear, then the soft capture system will be retracted, and dragon will go for hard capture. Again, it just now tuning in, that soft capture, that docking coming 7 16 a. M. Pacific, 10 16 a. M. On the east coast. Flying 262 statue miles over the board of northern china and mongolia. Thats all capture is going to contract. And its on the way to docking complete. Once the soft capture ring is latches, there are hard latches that will crete that seal between the space craft and the International Space station. One capture is complete. I believe well get that call from our core here, anna, well get confirmation of hard captu capture. Theyll also see indication of hard capture complete. Once those two steps are done, thats docking complete. Thats right. Were expecting to hear some words from everybody. Pretty monumental moment. I mean for doug, hes returning to where he last docked almost nine years ago in the very last Space Shuttle mission, now commanding the very first commercial aircraft to deliver astronauts to the International Space station. That has to be cool for them. They mentioned quite a few times, theyre best friends, our favorite dads in space weve been calling them. Its got to be really cool for them, for their families to be watching this. Well get that video back shortly. Were 75 complete with that retraction. Once that is completed well get the hook indicators. Once those are ready, the 12 hooks will engage and that will attach dragon to the International Space station. Right now confirming that the soft capture system has deployed correctly, fully retracted. Once the soft capture system is fully contracted, that will set up the hard capture pins. There are 12 rings, thats what creates the sale between the spacecraft and the International Space station. The vestibule is not pressurized. It was just exposed to the vacuumous space literally four minutes ago. Holding for reconfiguration. We see ready to hook. Indicators are lighting up green. We should be able to step into those 12 hooks beginning to engage to get that secure between the dragon and the International Space station. The two vehicles are flying together. Theyre attached to each other. They are. Its been just under 19 hours since we lifted off. Were at about 18 58. 14. They were able to dock a few minutes ahead of schedule. We were tracking them to take another ten minutes. But they will have spent through all of their burns 16 minutes ahead of schedule. If you missed it, the initial docking at 10 16, and there were 262 statute miles flying together over the northern border of china and mongolia. So really exciting. Were just waiting for this docking complete to be confirmed. Well expect to hear some words from the crew on board. And all of the excited teams. Were just waiting for this moment. And then its time to start getting dragon integrated into the station. There will be an umbilical that will get mated. That will allow dragon to float data and power to the jet system. Then it will be over to the crew. The big loop. It is configured. Were proceeding with hook drive. All right, they did a quickso the Motion Control system on board station now back under those control moments. Dragon now given the go to drive those hooks. We have to do that change over of attitude control before we drive those hooks as the russian thrusterrers are a little bit more dynamic in their control of attitude. If you had a thruster firing while trying to drive those hooks, you could miss a line. Now its controlling the attitude on board the station, and those 12 hooks on dragon have now started driving. Flying over china. Just underneath japan. We passed over the orbital night. Were on the dark side of the world. Were lucky enough to see a soft capture happen just as we were flying over the line. This is one of the cameras on the very outward part of the japanese experimental module looking back in to the very front part where dragon is docked. We are in orbital nighttime. Thats why it is so dark. But youre looking at dragon. It is horizontal to the ground. You can see the nose cone still eliminated above it, and it is currently attached to the International Docking adapter on the International Spice station. And inside that capsule, the first astronauts to fly a vehicle up to the space station. The pilots got to do some fun tests today. They have a few more steps before they can go on board the egress of the International Space station. That transition will then allow us to proceed
