You acted quickly to authorize for texas, louisiana, and arkansas. Prepositioned aspects, they are responding today conducting search and rescue assessments and other types of assessments. Customsdeployed protection as well. Another administrator will be down in the area starting tomorrow and i will likely be down there this weekend as well. President trump what is the forl of danger of danger the planes flying into a storm of this magnitude . Have two which fly into the actual storm. I have done one of these flights myself. It is less bumpy than the weaker storms but the convention is more organized. It is a lot bumpier. Thank you. It is just a great partnership. With the start off latest information on the hurricane. It just became a Tropical Storm. Still moving north at 15 miles an hour. We look at the satellite, one of the tools we use to keep on these systems. An hour near louisiana. If you look back at the three day forecast, where we made landfall was very close to the three day forecast. We continue to move north through louisiana, even see some impacts and arkansas. 150 mileperhour winds but the heavy rainfall and the southerly the storm flow we theseornadoes, all of impacts. This is the latest forecast we have. Have quite a few people still feel the impact from the rain and wind. If you combine the wind in the name, still some impacts. Intoby friday, we will get kentucky and West Virginia and virginia throughout the weekend. We will clean keep a close eye on it. They are heroes, mr. President. The women in the men, also the airport, they fly these systems. Helps us here at the Hurricane Center with the forecasts. We could not do it without them. Thank. Great job. Thank you. We will go to some brief slides in the first slide is to highlight how are highlight our partners. Just give it a second to catch up. It is not fema doing this. Great partners like dod, epa and sba, there are people in this that are supporting these efforts. Whole of government response when it comes to this hurricane and any National Disaster we may see in the future. Taste a taste of some of the. Esources we have building with governors, power and roof teams on the ground doing an assessment. Communications teams, response , that may have lost communications and utility crews from all across the country. 10,000 crewmembers out there. They cantoration where and where it is safe. Doing sheltering, National Guard providing vehicles and i could about the team to respond to an recover from this disaster and any other that we may face. We have pictures to share with you from the field. Administrator will help us go through this. We have been on the ground for six hours so far. It will probably take even tomorrow to see the size and scope and the impact. We wanted to share some pictures. One way we gather information before people are out on the social listening and identify photographs from social media to get tasks , ideas taskforces about where to go to check on people, you will see as we go through a few photographs that some of them are from social media and some of them are from our personnel on the ground. ,he one you saw a moment ago the red and white is a communications tower. Significant damage on the left. Parish, oneight, a of the areas of significant impact. The power lines are down. One of the ways fema provides assistance,. We have a team Forward Deployed. Vernight in lake charles was a resident with a roof , we came off the property will see a lot of that. To provide support to the folks who have been damaged. You can see the roof that was ripped off the residence. Is a fire in lake charles which is a focus of our attention. Are working that now. Next slide. Will provide we. Upport. Significant wind damage. You can see the veracity of the impact. It is amazing. Significant damage we are seeing, widespread. How many buildings are like that . That has popped up a lot. We have not seen a lot of highrise buildings. Contractor . Too good a job. Ahead, Inking Partnership with the state, getting the roads cleared that let the taskforces do their work, making sure people have a safe place to sleep if their homes are damaged and American Red Cross plays a role. Crews come in behind and begin restoration and will proceed north through louisiana, arkansas, and others. News good news so far. So far so good on that front. Keeping our people safe. Turn it back to yourself and the vice president. Keep your family safe. Wait for all clear. If you do not have to go out, do not go out. Sightseeing, you put at risk other First Responders and you take away from something more important. Stay home and Pay Attention to the warnings given to you. Stay out of the water. It is dangerous. Turn around and do not drown is our motto. From downed power lines. Residents will clear debris. Keep your family safe. Heed the directions of your local elected officials. They know best. You will see that and that is what happens. President trump you did a fantastic job last night and you deserve the honor of making a statement now. You made a big Statement Last night. Whats to a smaller one now. Thank you, mr. President. I know i speak for you when i express our admiration for the team here at the department foment security fema, this interagency effort. This was a serious storm. When you signed an Emergency Declaration from louisiana and team Forward Deployed resources. Accounts from the experts, it sounds like while this was a major storm with a devastating impact, it was not andad as it couldve been while we grieve the loss of a young girl, and her family has our sympathies, this is a real andute to First Responders the people of louisiana and safetyho really put first. To keepencourage people the people of louisiana, texas, and arkansas, declaration Tropical Storm moves north, keep them in your prayers and keep in mind that organizations like red cross on the ground providing assistance and support to all of the efforts for families, you often say in moments like this, people can be assured that we will be with them. We were there to respond, rescue, and with the resources you deployed, make sure we are with people in louisiana and texas and any impacted by the storm, bigger and better than ever before. Echo o President Trump any questions regarding the hurricane . Visitingbe get the gulf coast and if so, when . President trump i was prepared to postpone the speech tonight and make it monday. I was going to texas, louisiana, make maybe arkansas. It was going to be in good shape but they need help. Have a little lucky. We will be heading to texas, louisiana, and may be an additional stop. The afternoonn and sunday, and i think you will be prepared by that time. I want to think people in fema and particular and Law Enforcement and locally, because they have done a fantastic job. We will go saturday and sunday. Can you respond to what is going on sunday and the nba response . President last night, it was very quiet. Mark meadows is here and they did a fantastic job last night. Virtually no incident. Portland should do the same thing. We are very smooth. We can be much larger if necessary. Out very well in wisconsin. We will put out the fire, put out the flame, put out the vandalism. The looting is ridiculous. We will stop the violence very quickly. And i think you might want to Say Something about that. Absolutely. What we have seen across the country, in portland and other cities particularly, the state and local Law Enforcement, they need to pick up the phone and request help and the cities that do that, we see the violence curbed and reduced almost immediately. Cities encourage other that are targets in this violence, particularly portland, the governor needs to step up and ask for help if they needed. Three months of violent activity in portland and it needs to come to an end. President trump they could solve the problem so easily and it seems a shame for i guess these letsasons, call them democrat governors, or portland is a great example. It has been going on for 90 days. We will be there with the National Guard if they ask. They were unable to protect the courthouse. We would like to go a step further and we can fix the problem quickly but they have to call us and we have to respond to their call. Another shooting of a black man by police . President trump i do not know much about the nba protests. I know their ratings are bad because people are tired of the nba, frankly. I dont know much about the protest but i know their ratings have been bad. That is unfortunate. They have become a political organization. I do not think that is a good thing for sports or the country. A fallout for police shootings. Is now the time to have a political celebration . President trump very appropriate. The country is doing well economically. Quarter oncord last jobs. Think we will have a gdp that is going to be mindboggling. Be interested. Never been anything in the world as a 20 gdp. That is despite the fact that great places like north carolina, pennsylvania, michigan, are shut down unnecessarily at this point. It is crazy what theyre doing. They are doing it i think for political reasons because they would like the number to be as low as possible. I think they are making a tremendous mistake. What we did initially was very important. Watched and wewe watched closely. They should open up and let them open safely and carefully. Let them play football. Doctors great number of it is a great danger to shutdowns and it is in the form of alcohol and drug use. Whether it is north carolina, pennsylvania, michigan, and others, they should open up and we have to get on with it. It is dangerous, what they are doing. Are doing it for political reasons. We have tremendous passion for the country. We want our country to do well. I will see you all tonight. Thank you.
