I used to be governor of natchez to shift but thats not where i started. I grow from the south side of chicago, i live there with a prince, mother and sister in a twobedroom and on welfare. I went to a big broken overcrowded Public Schools and my grandmother used to tell us we were not poor, just broke because brooke is temporary. Through the love and support of families, great teachers, adults and the new pride, church i learned to hope for the best and work for it. I was the first to my family to go to college and law school and had a chance to work in government and nonprofit and in business, ive had a chance to live my American Dream but over the years ive seen the tasks to that dream closing off bit by bit, the anxiety and anger that i saw my neighbors on the jobsite since the government and the economy were letting us down in it was no longer about us, its when folks feel all over america today. I admire and respect the candidates from the democratic field with the richness of ideas and experience in a depth of character that makes me proud to be a democrat. But the character of the candidate is an issue in every election, this time is about the character of the country. This time is about whether the day after the election america will keep their promise. This time is about more than removing a popular divisive leader as important as others but about delivery for you. So in the spirit of profound gratitude for all of the country has given to me and with a determination to build a better more sustainable inclusive American Dream for the next generation, i am today announcing my candidacy for president of the united states. Come be a part of this. We will build to welcome other teachers and learners that are seekers of a better way and a Better Future. This will not be easy and it should not be but im placing my fate and the people who feel left out and left back who want a fair shot at a Better Future now built by somebody better than you or built for you.
