Book tv recently visited capitol hill and asked husband jim bank about his reading list. This summer i have a very ambitious reading list. Currently im finishing a wellknown book by Stephen Ambrose on the day, a couple of weeks ago i went to the 75th anniversary of dday and im about finished with the book but going there and seeing firsthand what happened there 75 years ago our heroes, the greatest generation, the world war ii veterans who stormed the beaches of normandy and to read the book firsthand and learn more about it, its overwhelming to imagine what they went through. Im also reading seapower. Which just went in paperback. I am a Navy Reserve Officer and have been a champion of bigger, Stronger Navy force posture in this to modulus and dangerous world that we live in today and i just picked up past carters new book, former secretary of defense, two of the best military history books that ive read in recent years have been both secretary panetta secretary aces books. And now i can add at carters book to that collection. My daughter who is nine years old and i have a reading competition, 2019, whoever reads the most books wins. Shes currently beating me but if she beats me, she gets a puppy so thats her motivation for winning the book competition. So ive got a lot of work to do to catch up with her to win the competition. How do you select the books that you read . I have a bad habit. I use to work at barnes and noble and i spent a lot of time at barnes and noble and i often buy books i never read but they pile up here in the office or at home and i get around them whenever i can and im constantly on a, at least a weekly basis at a bookstore looking at on the shelf and finding books that i want to read.
