And we have director public andc policy. Today to talk about thishere important topic, its a pleasure to be on the panel with you. It would be helpful for each panelist to talk about products and Services Offered and Innovative Technology viewed asg the Digital Divide. Would you like to kick us off . Is an honor to be here like to serve the thank you for the federal Program Officers doing a great job two. [laughter] not in polite company. ■h id love to answer your question asked about technology, i want to put this, when i was growing up we have the im on the left, the rubbery code fittest now of course they are much more of its affiliates in our communications and its same. It was two major obstacles. Obstacle one 45 American Families dont have the luxury between their home and the vertical asset. The second was whether your licensed or unlicensed, what you do about underpants cancellation . With those two goals aligned, 1t what i put out for zero, and lake tahoe love this is a deployment 9000 feet above servf previously unserved and underserved families 15 and a half miles across the■ lane is where able to do landslides as well as direct plansv■m like the cancellation that is so important. Here the trees you see on the city forn cleveland, ohio, i may tnk nonprofits and their goal in the next 18 months iso ke sure 22500 families have 100 symmetrical breaking dollars. Wireless again because the 100 together. Absolutely and thank you for having me here today. Symmetrical is no for we are very proud, the fir what the 27 phds, 300 engineers on a Wireless Team have put as you may know, we are in the wireless space and in 2019 we did not have a single 5g tower and today we have more than 20000 dollars covering 250 million americans inhe certified by major cell phone manufacturers to validates perfor quality and capabilities of our government and we were able to play on network in record time and when we first were thinking about how to build the network, we made this deliberate decision using open architecture because the want our numbers more secure, costeffective. Traditionally networks built one major equipment filter can be want to be able to have choice and without competition was really important because its greater costeffectiveness we can pass on these benefits to consumers who work with more than 80 offenders to build our work we are proud of and we see this is a critical aspect as we are able to have Technological Developments and its more secure. We are able to provide a more Innovative Network and something all americans and consumers deserve. Im going to check. Actually requires is mike working . Thank you for having us. Been working on and have a range of services that promote connectivity helping solutions in our Mission Network andd wii device and project hyper. We are developing our first satellites in october and the announced 100 y and capabilities helping solve the Digital Divide and it is importany t allf our customers rely on productivity review we can bring success to sol issue f the solution through new technology and we are excited about the technologies provided. I love hearing about these new technologies. How do you view these companies in different technologies and to address the Digital Divide . I dont know that i have a view of each company as a company but technology is. The reality of the way americans access the internet and the reality of the way we will achieve universal coverage is that there are going to be a lot of different pathways goal take out to the internet and back key is to make sure we are efficient and effective d■qteploying plic funds when subsidizing this approach. One of the strong aspects and one thing i think congress got right was access to define a pre rules to support the use of technology that makes the most sense given the economic population density and where we there in that momen but will american affordable and reliable internet connection. Given again economic and physical reality of the location so i am and everybody was committed getting access to the internet whether through satellite or Wireless Technology or Fiber Networks have stepped up and meeting the challenge of the moment. This includes everybody online and its gotten really enthusiastic reception. To see that but also combined with the practical approach. Wondering from the private sector side, what differentiates your company and how you see the landscape laying out . Nicd us ase provider, we can complement the technologies and what is represented on the panel. We also see Consumers Want connectivity so we know we have to offer affordable option and highperforming service as well focus on those factors making sure consumers can adopt it as a low price and a highspeed service for the applications are really howr deliver for customes and be able to use this and offer fullservice to make sure customers have service. Did you want to speak to that . Yes, thank you. I love the title of this panel and that repeatedly■jccurred1■. Ive read t6 proposal so far but was captured and i will paraphrase. Objectives rather than technologies to get to the goal. Prioritization for the overa8a goal for underserved americans, thats where continue to play a positive role in just the first commercially available now serving underprivileged communities, 46 states. They think lots of snow. 20 million homes has a physical week and its 800 megabits a second. We are now moving forward with 1. 6 the Second Circuit 18 to 22 miles and pretty but that only. Ten to 12 miles, the dog has to eat the dog food. We can do this together with what we have because finances fr states to meet the needs to their policies. Very informative. Since we are here to discuss policy recommendations, im wonderinthese conversations poly officials and regulators, what is your message at the federal or local level . What is one thing you would like to see them committed or addressed job the goals of addressing the Digital Divide . We met one thing really criticac to move forward optimizing highpowered Service Called that to 12. Seven its critical because it would unleash hundred hertz dont help close the Digital Divide and promote competition. This is important for three reasons where asking to make this available by the commission quickly is really important so asiz outlined with funding will make available to see if i think finalize their plans, its great to hear we are thinking about different technologies and get back to see this. It is important to participate in these different opportunities and make these projects available. This would really allow for that so acting quickly is really important. Second but this technological evolution with a lot of opportunities will are able to be quick t allow for the. That different technological ans able to connect people and third, right now that has to from authorities and it needs to be addressed but this is an opportunity we can act on today and while it is this strategy there are different studies that will be available in the biggest imperative time is of the essence you have any takeaways . Policy wise want to make sure federal and State Government uses all the tools and satellite casualties as a solution. Pacifically we appreciate the work done to support the legal Sector Communications and all commissioners so we really appreciate that. We want to continue promoting with sharing rules which theyvp done completing the proceeding, greatroceedings they have taken. Just junior supporting the industry here. The strong supporter of this technology and the aty. What we do for a living and why we do it. My why is to build stronger communities so what i will add, we have to make sure they send it and. So many lines of American Families cannot b off on the Digital Divide. Can get that across and extend the program. Do you have a reaction . Im not going to comment, my colleagues over there are taking a thoughtful approach and ill share a couple of thoughts. Last month in april, i thinkthe its a deeply disappointing failure to allow the program not just because of the many millions of americans benefiting from it but selfishly to the extent it will be making legible harder. Will be a lot worse when it was not authorized. It will requirelation in Building Infrastructure and the money comes from one place or another into take a lot more plac t various where it really could be get it where they pay for all of us need more christian german ernest to accommodate a lower rate of return. I will extort members of the government to be more thoughtful what can be done at the state level. I want to be good or bad number to call out pacifically but there is a tremendous number of ideas in the laboratory of democracy. And they are not crossed pollinating to the extent that i would expect with her about lowering barriers, or supporting the expansion of middle while and leveraging of infrastructural or electrical or transportation and find efficiencies week erratically got them but im not sure coordination is happening is a tremendous opportunity to get smart and state legislatures not to notice a budget cap see a bunch of funds but on leverage opportunities, cohesion columns, consistent abf that will be drawing on lessons learned. You race great points there. We are in the midst of this■ investment in a wonderfully can take a step outside of the moment and look towards the future. Or ten years, or even further down the road, or would you consider it a success for your business in terms of solving the Digital Divide, what does that look like to you . Providers where we have open option and increased demand for Wireless Services both on the consumer side and enterprise side there are so many benefits so i think we see both monthly and abroad and itt is really important so that is what w w see. Its growth is growing with a future need of families and andw over time. 800 megats a second and now shipping 1. 6 gigabits and 3. 2 gigabits a second. Interference cancellation, all of those to make sure your Meeting Needs and recognizing it as a local issue. Immigrants getting there. How do we have found that was our first deployment. They kept their■j word amounts where we are and 23 countries where this action was preferred because sieber was stolen. The right tool for the job and future proof. We are longterm ogres that. Customers include consumers and underserved and underserved communities. Offering highquality, high service for small devices and 100 megabits a second and the complex challenges to have a luing to me that in the years ahead a successful on ande excited. This is one of our earliest partners and withmazon, i have a 14yearold daughter and the next time she orders windy outfits, can the order be canceled, please . [laughter] we really have a lot. Other common ihink our panelisti appreciate everyone stressing their thoughts and thank you for giving us the government perspective as well.
