Over the coming weeks, customers at drugstore giant CVS may not see a dedicated cashier behind the register — but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one, even as customers will have the option to self-checkout, the company said Monday.
A shift in the way CVS is using its front of the store employees will see them move to the store’s interior, acting more as store ambassadors than static checkout clerks, a spokesman said, and the move isn’t designed to result in layoffs.
