Cyclist dies in East Oakland hit-and-run collision [East Bay Times] Dec. 22—OAKLAND — A male bicyclist was fatally struck by a vehicle in an East Oakland neighborhood Monday, in the second hit-and-run fatality in less than twenty-four hours. Around 6:15 p.m., police responded to reports of a collision involving the bicyclist and a vehicle at 84th Avenue and Holly Street. When officers arrived, they found an adult male on the ground suffering from serious injury. After providing care, firefighters and paramedics took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 8 p.m. Police were not immediately able to provide information on the vehicle that fled the scene, or a possible link to a vehicle that crashed into a fence near 83rd Avenue and Olive Street moments after the initial collision.
