A cyclist who was struck and killed in a hit-skip crash on the city's East Side has been identified as a 23-year-old East Side man. According to Columbus police, 23-year-old Franklin Johnson Jr. was found lying on East Broad Street near Cardinal Park Drive around 7:30 a.m. Jan. 9. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation determined Johnson was riding a bicycle eastbound in the right lane of East Broad Street when he was struck from behind by a car. The car and its driver did not stay at the scene. Police later located a vehicle they believe could have evidentiary value and impounded it.
