When Daniel Kingston died in 2009, his nephew David Neville was only two years of age. Twelve years later David is honouring his uncle, who died of cancer at just 25 years of age, is making a Lenten effort with a difference this year. "I'm running 5k a day for the 40 days of Lent," the 13 year old De La Salle pupil told The Corkman. "I never knew him - as I was only two when he died but people told me he was good at football and full of fun." This year June 21 would have seen the 11th Daniel Kingston 5k Run in and around Macroom but the run has had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.
