At the corner where three Savannah neighborhoods meet, young Black entrepreneurs came together and showcased their products while music, poetry and the aroma of seafood fries filled the air. With the temperature in the mid 70s, the entrepreneurs lined the perimeter of the 3 Points Food Court located at 409 Orchard Street for the Dear Young People event Saturday. Nineteen-year-old JaQuan Oliver hosted the event that brought Savannah State University students, locals and businesses together. Oliver, who is also a youth minister, said the Dear Young People movement started when he graduated from Johnson High School in May 2020. It started as a show with inspirational quotes, music and guests and blossomed into the event held Saturday.
