PeaceHealth recently launched a 15-month modernization that will remove four buildings from the campus on Hilyard Street and revamp the main lobby. In the past, the buildings were used for things like inpatient psychiatric care, surgical services and cardiac units. However, the buildings have sat empty since 2008 when Riverbend Hospital opened in Springfield. Alicia Beymer, chief administrative officer for the hospital, said the plan is to carefully remove the buildings and turn what’s left into open space.
