VISTA — Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a stabbing in Vista that left a man wounded Sunday, a lieutenant said. The stabbing was reported by a postal worker about 5 p.m. on Smilax Road, north of state Route 78 near the border with San Marcos. The postal worker reported that a man suffering from stab wounds had walked up to him and asked for help, Lt. Daniel Vengler said. Medics took the man to a hospital, Lt. Michael Arens said. The man, whose age was unavailable, was listed in stable condition Monday morning, Vengler said. Investigators believe the man was stabbed on Calinda Drive, but the circumstances leading up to the stabbing were under investigation. A description of the assailant was unavailable.
