Deputy IGP clarifies maximum fine slapped on hawkers

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said the Health Ministry (MOH) issued the new guidelines on Tuesday.
“I will instruct all state police chiefs to follow this new guidelines to avoid any untoward incident.
“In the past, police personnel were only doing their duty based on existing laws and guidelines.
“We don’t rule out the possibility that some policemen might have misinterpreted the guidelines, thus this new directive should make things clearer, ” he said in an interview at Bukit Aman yesterday.
He was asked to comment on the controversy involving the burger seller in Kelantan who was slapped with a RM50,000 compound notice for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures.
