same. senior international correspondent fred pleitgen, interesting reporting from the "wall street journal" saying the u.s. and iran were misreading one another, further complicating this confrontation. good morning. >> reporter: yeah, good morning, dave, and misreading each other, possibly continue to go misread with both sides thinking the other might be trying to start offensive operations and both sides apparently thinking that they are the ones who are on the defense. in all, this of course a lot of potential for miscalculation in an area, especially there in the persian gulf where the u.s. and iranian forces are always in close proximity, and continue to be so and in the wider region adds well. iran's foreign minister saying at this point in time, there are not going to be any negotiations with the trump administration but essentially what the iranians saying is that they want the u.s. to take away some of the punishing sanctions that the trump administration has put on iran.
