bill deblahs yo in office for just his second day. >> it would have been nice to have a nice, calm first day, but we have snow on our mind. we are focused like a laser. >> reporter: also on the mind of new york officials, avoiding a repeat of last year's stheerm left motorists stranded on the highways. with more than 20 inches of snow in massachusetts and up to a foot in parts of new york, there's no question this is a memorable storm. >> our coverage continues live at accu-weather with meteorologist jim dickie. what's the latest? >> we're in the meat of the storm, the heart of the storm. boston to new york city, snow coming down heavily. the area at the east coast is moving east. many spots have improved. certainly across central and western p.a., back toward pittsburgh, the snow coming to an end. interior sections across new york, the snow coming to an end. for the i-95 corridor, still a couple hours of heavy snow.
