newt gingrich. you've been doing so much reporting on the republican side. he's got a very large nationwide financial network, a lot of assets. some like mark mckinnon was saying on "morning joe" this morning, he represents the past, not the future, where voters want to be. what is your take on it going forward? >> reporter: his greatest challenge, remember we did this great polling -- set of polling questions that bill mcintyre and peter hart had, of blind attributes of various potential candidates. the worst attribute to have was lobbyists, being connected to washington. and the biggest challenge i think for newt, yes, he's got the stuff, putting his wife calista front and center, but how he can become an outsider in a moment in time when the base of the republican party really wa%ts one, and all of his experiences in the beltway, he even actually physically lives in the -- basically in the beltway in maclane.
