Dhaka, Mymensingh and Rangpur to remain unaffected by closure of 10 coal-based power plants: Nasrul Sun Online Desk 27th June, 2021 03:46:48 PM Electricity supply to Dhaka, Mymensingh and Rangpur will remain unaffected after closure of 10 coal-based power plants as surplus electricity from other areas will be used to recover the deficiency, said State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid. The state minister made the remarks at a press briefing on Sunday, in the wake of the government decision to shut coal-based power plants as part of the country’s gradual shift to green energy. Then power projects going to be shut are-- Patuakhali coal-based power plant, 1200MW Uttarbanga Super Thermal Power Plant in Gaibandha, 522MW coal-based power plant in Mawa, 282MW coal-based power plant in Dhaka, 282MW coal-based power plant in Chattogram, 565MW coal-based power plant in Khulna, 1320MW coal-based power plant in Moheskhali, 1320MW coal-based power plant in Moheskhali, 700MW Bangladesh-Singapore coal-based ultra-super critical power plant and 1200MW CPGCL- Sumitomo Corporation joint-venture plant.
